We are very fortunate in that we live in a perfect neighbourhood. Some of the kid’s best frie
nds live next door, down the street or just around the corner. Their school is at the end of the block – a few minute walk. I know, we’re lucky.
On any given day, we get a gaggle of girls at our house and we love it. We take this responsibility very seriously and watch over the kids. Dance parties or some other grand performance is the flavour of the day. It’s not uncommon that we have kids join us for dinner or some other activity. The same holds true for our friend’s generosity. If our girls aren’t here, they are in great company not far away. Yup, we’re super lucky.
The other day, I was stopping off for a quick trip for some items at our local grocery store. There, at the end of the book aisle, was our neighbour reading one of the recent rag mags. It looked like she was totally engaged with the experience.
I said “hi” and it seemed to catch her off guard. I offered that we had her kids at our place and so that she was in no rush to get home. She laughed and mentioned that she was enjoying the break and was a little embarrassed about being caught in the act of relaxing while the kids were elsewhere. We shared a laugh and I told her her secret hiding place was safe with me.
Moms are amazing, my ‘Love of My Life’ included. They give so much and ask for so little. I am so thankful. Please treat mom well today and everyday. Give her a break – even if it is at the end of the aisle
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
